Change permissions on files and folders using SSH access

Once you login to the server with your cPanel username and password, change to the public_html directory with the command given below :

cd public_html

The following command can be used to change the permissions of directories permissions recursively:

find . -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;

if setting 755 permissions causes errors to appear on your site, you can try setting the permissions to 775 instead, however setting 777 would make your site vulnerable to hacking and is not recommended.

The following command can be used to change the permissions of directories permissions recursively:

find . -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;
